43% of incarcerated youth in the U.S. never return to school. In DC, only 45% of all African American students graduate from high school.

Of our active youth, 97% have re-enrolled in school or in a GED or a vocational program after their release from incarceration, graduated from high school, obtained a GED, or enrolled in college.

“Youth who return to school post-release also have better odds of obtaining employment. Employment increases by 48% for those youth who return to school post-release. In addition, youth who are employed post-release are much less likely to be re-arrested.” *

Upon release from New Beginnings, 71% of our youth have obtained part-time or full-time employment.
